Where Ben Bugbee Stands on the Issues - Minnesota House District 13A

"The time is now, not because of power and politics, but because our legislature needs another fighter for the cause of common sense and community."

Affordability: The Foundation of Everything

Affordability determines whether our community members can stay, whether families can thrive, and whether District 13A prospers. As a business owner and property manager, Ben Bugbee understands this challenge firsthand.

Ben's commitment: Reduce tax burdens on families, farms, and businesses. Cut red tape, driving up costs. Let hardworking Minnesotans keep more of what they earn.

Education: Character and Critical Thinking

Our schools must build critical thinking skills, instill strong work ethic, and create a culture of common sense and practical problem-solving.

Ben's priorities: Strengthen graduation requirements. Expand vocational and technical training. Empower parents and local school boards. Bring back critical thinking and strengthen the learned work ethic in our curriculum.

Economic Growth: Champion Business, Restore Main Street

Every unnecessary regulation costs jobs and drives entrepreneurs out of Minnesota. Government should empower businesses to grow, not bury them in red tape.

Ben's plan: Minimize growing tax burdens. Reduce barriers to starting businesses. Use state-subsidized business loans and grants for new businesses. Support non-profits. Commission of Deregulation and Common Sense.

Agriculture: Partner with Farmers, Not Regulate Them

Minnesota's farmers are the backbone of our economy and our communities. They need government off their backs, not more interference.

Ben's commitment: Reduce burdensome regulations. Create sensible state-agriculture partnerships. Protect farmland from overreach and excessive taxation. Support the next generation of farmers.

Housing and Development: Build Opportunity, Bring Families Home

People want to stay in District 13A, but they need affordable places to live and room to grow.

Ben's priorities: Cut regulatory barriers slowing housing construction. Support affordable housing for working families and seniors. Streamline permitting. Work with local officials to keep property taxes reasonable. Bring good-paying jobs so families can stay.

Healthcare: Keep Care Local and Accessible

When seniors can't find reliable healthcare nearby, they leave—and our communities suffer.

Ben's plan: Work with local clinics to ensure they have support to stay in our communities. Expand services so families don't drive hours for basic care. Recruit and retain healthcare professionals through tuition/housing assistance and partnership.

Infrastructure: Build Smart, Not Broke

Good roads, bridges, and broadband are essential—but we can't bankrupt the state or county building them.

Ben's approach: Prioritize critical infrastructure supporting communities and commerce. Build roads where needed without overextending budgets. Balance budgets! Ensure rural communities get fair infrastructure investment. Support broadband expansion.

Supporting Those Who Serve

Our veterans, police officers, and firefighters deserve respect, resources, and freedom to do their jobs.

Ben's commitment: Support competitive pay and benefits for law enforcement and first responders. Reduce North Star Promise Act and fully fund Minnesota State Grant. Honor veterans with strong support services. Work on criminal justice reform and clean up streets through work programs and state partnerships.
